Sao Paulo, Brazil, 13 August 2024 – MainConcept, a leading provider of video and audio codecs, has partnered with Brazil based systems integrator and technology provider, Videodata, to support Brazil’s transition to the SBTVD TV 2.5 and TV 3.0 standards.
In partnership with Videodata, MainConcept’s solutions will enable next-generation broadcasts and provide enhanced viewing experiences for Brazilian audiences, including its real-time video encoding software platform for OTT and TV broadcasting workflows, the MainConcept Live Encoder.
Brazilian TV viewers are set to receive better quality video and audio when the country transitions its official standard for Digital TV from SBTVD TV 2.0 to TV 3.0, in 2025. Developed by the SBTVD Forum, the standard uses next-generation video codec VVC/H.266 (Versatile Video Codec) and aims to revolutionize how viewers experience TV by providing high quality video, immersive audio, and enabling interactive components such as advertising and e-commerce.
MainConcept has already completed successful trials of TV 3.0 using its Live Encoder solution working with the largest Brazilian free-to-air television network during the 2022 FIFA World Cup and Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
“Videodata’s reputation, technical expertise and expansive network are the perfect match to help MainConcept introduce our technology to a wider Brazilian audience,” said Thomas Kramer, Vice President, strategy and business development at MainConcept. “As Brazil rapidly transitions its broadcast infrastructure and our work with local broadcasters moves from trial to implementation, MainConcept and Videodata are in the perfect position to make SBTVD TV 2.5 and 3.0 a reality for the Brazilian market.”
“We are thrilled to partner with MainConcept in this pivotal transition to the SBTVD TV 3.0 standard in Brazil. This collaboration not only underscores our commitment to delivering cutting-edge technology solutions but also enhances the viewing experience for millions of Brazilian households. With MainConcept's advanced video encoding capabilities, we are poised to offer technology for next-generation broadcasting, providing superior quality and immersive experiences to the audience,” said Rosalvo Carvalho, President and CEO at Videodata.
The latest version of MainConcept Live Encoder supports VVC and also features MPEG-5 Part 2 LCEVC (Low Complexity Enhancement Video Coding) and MPEG-H Audio, which were integrated into the solution in partnership with V-Nova and Fraunhofer IIS, respectively. LCEVC adds an enhancement layer that reduces delivery costs by increasing resolution while lowering bitrate, and also reduces transcoding complexity. V-Nova will also be at SET Expo showcasing LCEVC.
MainConcept will be at SET Expo, Sao Paulo, between 20th – 22nd August on Videodata’s booth (46A). To find out more, meet with MainConcept at SET Expo or visit www.mainconcept.com for information about the solutions available.
